Recently, the American Medical Association (AMA) adopted a new policy which states that obesity is now classified as a medical disease.

Since over 35 percent of adults and 17 percent of our youth are categorized as having the “disease” of obesity, a new range of medical interventions has begun to gain in popularity in order to address this new classification, including prescription medications, radical fad diets, and surgery.

60 billion dollars is spent annually in the US on diet and weight-loss related products alone – yet UCLA research has shown that up to 66 percent of people who diet usually fail – and then regain more weight than before they started. Obesity can be treated quite simply, but the mainstream approaches to weight loss have proven to be ineffective.
